At the end of the January 7 Middletown City Council meeting during New Business, Vice Mayor Steve West took a moment to recognize the incredible work of the Middletown Musical Arts Club (MMAC) for the students in music programs at Middletown High School.
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization financially and physically supports the programs, helping them raise money for trailers to haul instruments and props, costumes and uniforms, competition fees, meals for the students, and anything else the students may need to adequately perform. Additionally, MMAC helps build and push props, cooks meals, cares for the uniforms, loads and unloads equipment, runs concession stands, and chaperones on trips to perform.
At the end of the recognition, City Council unanimously voted to donate $10,000 to the MMAC, allowing the organization to reach its fundraising goal for sending its orchestra and show choir members to Disney World.
