Join Kimberly Hamlin, associate professor of History and American Studies at Miami University, for a Women’s History Month presentation on the extraordinary life of suffragist, lecturer and author Helen Hamilton Gardener, “the Harriet Beecher Stowe of fallen women.” Drawing from research from her forthcoming biography, Dr. Hamlin explores the scandals surrounding Gardener’s personal life, her campaigns to raise the age of sexual consent for girls (from 12 or younger) and her vital role in persuading President Woodrow Wilson to support the 19th Amendment. In the spring, on a warm, wet evening, salamanders at Indian Creek begin to move. It happens sometime between the last week of January and the end of March. Sign up for this unique opportunity to watch migrating salamanders and learn more about this species. Pre-registration is required and the program may reach capacity quickly as space is limited. You will be contacted by email regarding the exact date and time when the migration begins. A waiting list is available.
