  2. CPR/AED Training

    On Saturday, September 21st, the Safety Council of SW Ohio will offer free basic CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrillation) training for local clergy and laity from any church. This would be good for ushers, greeters, medical personnel in your pews, pastors. This is NOT for official certification, however. Coffee and donuts will be provided.     September 24 | 6:00 pm | Verity Lodge Powel Crosley Jr. built radios for the masses, not the high classes, and soon was known as the “Henry Ford of Radio.” He was a pioneer in radio broadcasting and so much more. Discover the many innovative products he produced, particularly the ones used to help win WWII. Learn of his hardworking, talented brother, Lewis, who could bring Powel’s ideas to life. Their partnership made the name Crosley well known and profitable while many other companies failed. Verity Traditions programs are free and open to the public.     HOPE...FAITH...GRIT...RESILIENCY...Resilient Community Volunteer Training for those serving the community with adverse experiences. Presented by La Shanda Sugg, LPC. The workshop is free and participants will learn ways to better serve a community with tough backgrounds. What is behind some of our behaviors? Participants will learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs); how trauma is defined, and experiences that lead to trauma; the impact of trauma on brain development, and the 5 resilience factors found in people who overcome their trauma. The workshop is being sponsored by the Coalition for a Healthy Middletown and Safety Council of Southwestern Ohio as part of an effort to increase positive adult-youth connections.     The Fall ‘19 season kicks off at 7 pm Saturday, September 28, 2019, with a double bill of bluegrass music featuring Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers and Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper in Dave Finkelman Auditorium on the Middletown campus. Mullins is an on-air radio personality and a classic character who currently serves as president of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Mullins (banjo) is backed by a stellar band of musicians and vocalists. Cleveland is renowned for his exceptional skill as a bluegrass fiddler with an energetic style. He made his first performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1993 as a guest of Alison Krauss. These two bands are different yet perfectly complement each other on stage.
