Atrium Medical Center
|
Healthcare & Human Services
Development of an expanding medical campus in the 1,200-acre Renaissance East District at I-75 and SR 122 was jumpstarted by the new Atrium Medical Center. The hospital and its partners (Compton Center, Dayton Children's Hospital Specialty Center, Ann and Arthur Bidwell Surgery Center, and Behavioral Health Pavilion) have invested more than $250 million in a new campus. Additional investment of $55 million has been made in the last few years, for health care - Health Sciences Academy, a YMCA, a Veterans Administration Health Clinic, assisted living and skilled nursing/rehab living facilities, and hospice facilities. All of the healthcare facilities partner with Atrium, resulting in a thriving synergy providing top-quality medical care to residents. Complementing the new health care at the interstate is a new $7 million, LEED-certified medicalclinic, Primary Health Care Solutions. We continue to focus on growing our biomedical sector, with particular emphasis on developing sites for new facilities.

Water & Food Technology
As other regions experience a scarcity of water, Middletown's unlimited, high quality water is a clear advantage. We are working with our regional partners to explore strategies to facilitate water and food technology growth. One of the newest companies to relocate to Middletown is Avure Technologies, a producer of high-pressure technology equipment. They chose their new site because it meets all their key criteria for efficient press manufacturing, as well as outstanding proximity to major transportation corridors. Avure officials noted that their new facility is well situated to serve their largest and fastest growing market. Avure worked collaboratively with both state and city officials as well as the site owner on a facility development plan and incentive package to meet Avure's long-term objectives.

Advanced Materials & Manufacturing
Middletown has a long history of expertise in advanced materials and manufacturing. While we have traditionally excelled in paper and steel, we are now seeing significant growth in the chemical sector. Over the last three years, $558 million has been invested in new businesses and expansions for companies, including Middletown Coke, Metal Matic, Ohio Metal Coaters, Advanced Design, Valicor, Pilot Chemical, MTR Martco, MRT, Air Products and Steam Systems. We are continuing to focus on developing regional relationships and resources (especially customized workforce development opportunities) to help more companies grow. We are also encouraging growth through enhanced site readiness on available acreage.
