Trash Collection
The City contracts with Rumpke, Inc for weekly trash removal for all Middletown residents. The current fee is $14.00 per month and service includes unlimited household refuse collection, curbside recycling and large item pick-up. Collection hours are between 6 AM and 3 PM Monday through Friday. Service will be provided on all holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. When those holidays fall during the week, refuse collection is delayed by one day. 
Household trash must be at the curb in bags or containers with lids or wire bottoms: maximum 33 gallon/ 70 pounds. All appliances and furniture including but not limited to stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, water heaters, washers, dryers, sofas, mattresses and chairs can be set at the curb on any regular trash day. Any appliance containing Freon must display sticker that Freon material has been properly removed by a certified technician (check the yellow pages) and the Rumpke Refrigerant Recovery Statement (available in the lobby of the City Building, Public Works & Utilities Administration at

Brush and other yard waste can be set at the curb on any regular trash day, provided that limbs, etc. are cut to 4' lengths, tied in 2' bundles and do not exceed 70 lbs. Grass, leaves, etc. should be placed in a container or garbage (can be co-mingled with refuse).
