Message from the City Manager
Middletown, Ohio, has a bright past and an even brighter future. Our City is a wonderful blend of old and new, urban and suburban, unique and diverse. It’s an historic community proud of its heritage and accomplishments, but also a 21st-century city providing high-tech services and products to markets all over the world. Located in the middle of the fast-growing Cincinnati/Dayton metropolitan area, Middletown has a pioneering spirit that continues to help us thrive and meet new challenges.
Our municipality is an inviting midsize city with big-city amenities, including an abundance of local arts and cultural opportunities; easy access to world-class sports, arts and entertainment venues; a highly regarded public library system; a new, state-of-the-art hospital; an expanding regional airport; a myriad of parks and sporting options; and two outstanding college branches—Miami University and Cincinnati State.
The Middletown community also supports an eclectic mix of arts—offering more arts and cultural opportunities than many cities of comparable size. From an active community and summer youth theater, professional symphony orchestra and arts centers (which offer classes in the fine arts and crafts), to a variety of art galleries and a resurging historic Opera House, Middletown’s arts are thriving. There are also a growing number of festivals and events in the downtown and other areas of the community, including “First Fridays” and “Second Look Saturdays,,” a monthly celebration of the arts, music and cuisine; the Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival; and many other regular events.
The Middletown park system is another highlight and includes more than 30 parks that support a wide variety of activities for all ages. From walking and bike paths and a skateboard complex, to splash pads, tennis, basketball and pickleball courts to many soccer, football, baseball and softball fields, our City’s parks have something for everyone. Our recreational trail is part of the Miami Valley Trail System, consisting of more than 330 miles of recreational trail to explore.
Our pioneering community is once again in the midst of an economic resurgence as new operations choose Middletown for their home and existing companies flourish and expand. This positive economic environment is largely due to a pro-business attitude, available incentive programs, affordable land costs, available work force, helpful government officials and, most of all, citizens who embrace our community with pride.
Our location and vast array of both local and regional amenities help create a strong community with a growing economy, low cost of living and a lively quality of life.
