Captain David K. Adams Middletown Division of Fire 2300 Roosevelt Blvd. Middletown, Oh 45042 513-425-7996 davida@cityofmiddletown.org
To maintain the quality of service expected by the community, continuous training is required. Whether it is fire, EMS, or other specialized areas, it is the responsibility of the training captains to ensure that the training is delivered. As new hazards or situations arrive, Fire personnel meet the challenge by preparing for the real event.
The Baker Bowl Skate Park provided a unique challenge for rescuers. Before it was opened, all personnel prepared by simulating the rescue of an injured skater. Each crew was provided a scenario and determined how to best remove the victim using specialized equipment.
At times, local industry may request us to perform a certain rescue that may be unique to that facility or operation. Again, to prepare, training and planning is necessary to ensure that we are prepared for the emergency.
Along with scheduling inter-department training, the training office schedules and organizes functions such as mock accidents for the local high schools and other functions where our presence is requested.
Newly enacted State continuing education requirements for Firefighter certifications make the training department more vital than ever. Hundreds of hours of continuing education are provided to our members every year.
