In addition to these important elements, the City of Middletown also believes a diverse, robust retail environment strengthens both our community’s quality of life and our local economy.
With this understanding, the City recently undertook a comprehensive review of its retail potential. The analysis examined a number of factors that relate to its Primary Retail Market Area including, demographics, consumer expenditures and buying patterns, housing options, and commercial/office job growth. The City’s Renaissance District represents one area of the community that has seen significant growth over the past three years. The new Atrium Medical Center and Premier Health Campus along with the development of the Renaissance residential and office developments provide tremendous opportunities for both regional and service retail development. Located adjacent to the existing Towne Mall and Middletown Crossings, the area is quickly becoming a preferred business and retail destination along the Cincinnati-Dayton corridor.
Middletown’s Arts Central District in downtown represents a unique environment for retailers and restaurants looking to cater to the arts community. The Beau Verre Riordan Stained Glass Studio, and Miami University Middletown, among others, have significant presence in the district. The area is an ideal location for those interested in the unique urban setting of the City’s downtown.
