The Services Division consists of the Communications Center, the City Jail, the Records Section and Property Room The Communications Center has an authorized staff of a sergeant and 17 dispatchers. It is the heart of the entire police operation. The Communications Center handles both police and fire dispatch and is the regional 911 center for northern Butler County, answering 911 calls for Trenton, Monroe, Madison Township and Ohio State Patrol. The City of Middletown is unique in that it runs a full-service jail facility. The Jail has a staff that includes a sergeant and 12 correction officers. It houses an average daily population of approximately 60 inmates. The jail has a number of contract employees as well, including a medical staff (doctor and nurse), a cook, and a cleaning supervisor. The Records Section is the repository for all reports completed by the Division of Police and is staffed by a civilian supervisor, 3 word processors and 4 records clerks. The Records Section is responsible for maintaining copies of all offense reports, traffic accidents, citations, warning citations, arrest reports and record checks as well as numerous other documents. The Property Room is run by one patrol officer and is responsible for maintaining the chain of custody for all evidence. Additionally, the property room houses all found property recovered by the officers and is responsible for returning it to the rightful owners or disposing of it at an annual auction. All of the uniforms and supplies for the Division of Police are coordinated out of this office. |
