Neighborhood Improvement Division
The Neighborhood Improvement Division was moved into the Division of Police in 2001. This transition was made by former Police Chief Bill Becker to coordinate the Community Oriented Policing Unit with city nuisance inspectors to make nuisance abatement a priority in Middletown. The combination of police, animal control, and nuisance inspectors have enabled neighborhood complaints to be solved in a more efficient and effective manner.
The unit is staffed by a police supervisor, two community oriented police officers, two nuisance inspectors, the animal control officer and a police records clerk. Citizens may call 425-7967 to leave complaints of high grass, trash, junk vehicles or attractive nuisances. Breakdowns of the complaints are as follows:
