Police > Message from the Chief
The Middletown Division of Police is comprised of 128 men and women dedicated to public service and the safety of our citizens and businesses. We are a nationally accredited police organization and pride ourselves in our response to the needs of the public and we strive to meet as many of their expectations as possible. Our goals are to safeguard the constitutional rights of all our citizens including those we prosecute, to reduce crime, arrest offenders, recover stolen property, maintain the public peace and   insure the safe use of the City’s roadways. Our employees are held to the highest professional standards, both on and off duty.

It has been my honor to serve as Middletown’s Chief of Police, since July of 2005, after 29 years of service as a Police Officer and Supervisor with the Middletown Division of Police. I am dedicated to increasing our level of professionalism. No citizen should feel afraid in any of our neighborhoods, our schools should operate as safely as possible, no one should face discrimination because of race, religion or any other reason and criminals and those who prey on the innocent will know and realize the consequences of their actions.

The Police Division operates 24 hours a day and provides uniformed patrol, conducts criminal investigations, dispatches for both Middletown Divisions of Police and Fire, provides E-911 service for Middletown and surrounding communities, operates a full service jail, assigns school resource and DARE Officers and conducts nuisance enforcement and animal control.

We encourage citizens to raise questions about police service and we investigate complaints, however received, on our officers and other staff.  We work and meet with various members of the community including the Police Citizen’s Advisory Board, and other groups and associations. We cannot continue to improve our service to our citizens without this feedback, communication and their trust.

Homeland Security and the ever changing world we live in demands that law enforcement adapt and change to meet those needs. Local policing has always been the mainstay of safety within our communities. Safety has never been more critical as we enter into the 21st Century. I am confident that the Middletown Division of Police will rise to the occasion and provide Middletown with the very best police department and police service possible, police that the community can be proud of.
