Grants The City of Middletown’s Facade Renovation Grant Program offers technical and financial assistance to commercial property owners seeking to renovate or restore the exterior of their buildings in the City’s Urban Core. Participants can receive a five-year grant and/ or a low interest loan. The grant, in the amount of $5,000 depreciates at a rate of 20% per year if the building remains in active use. Over a five-year period of active use the grant will be 100% forgiven. The matching low interest loan is based on an assigned value of $5 per square foot of street facing facade area per building up to a limit of $10,000. Both the $5,000 grant and the $10,000 loan are secured by mortgage on the subject property. Download a PDF document about this program. The Job Creation Incentive Grant Program provides incentives to companies making substantial investments in new employment within the City of Middletown. Those companies creating a minimum of 25 full-time jobs and $1 million in payroll are eligible to participate in the program. Companies may receive a grant equal to 15% of the Middletown city income taxes collected annually for a period of up to 10 years for ever $1 million in new payroll created. For ever additional $1 million in new payroll created, companies may receive an additional 15% of the income taxes collected annually up to a maximum of 50%. The grant is also capped at $100,000 annually for any single project. Download a PDF document about this program. The State of Ohio provides funding to 629 Roadwork Development Account Program. Communities, counties, townships and villages may apply. Companies and developers may also apply. 629 funds can be used for off-site public road improvements. Engineering for roads can be covered. If improving an existing road and the water and sewer lines need to be removed and replaced the costs can also be covered. Note that if 629 funds are used on a state route outside of a municipality, ODOT must be notified, as they must approve any improvements. Retail projects are not eligible.
