The Middletown Community Center (MCC) is open from 7:00 AM until 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday and from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Friday. The following is a list of times for public access to the Community Center:

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

14 & Over 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The facility has an all-purpose room with a kitchen that seats 200-250 people, meeting rooms, play area, and a gym. A piano, tables and chairs are available. The facility is available for rental on weekends. More information can be obtained by calling (513) 425-7866.

A sampling of scheduled activities include:

  • Table Games: Offered to all age groups and include ping-pong, pool, cards, checkers, chess, box hockey, carom and others
  • Community Meetings: The MCC is willing to accommodate clubs and organizations within the community for meeting space. Contact the MCC for further information.
  • Girl Scouts: Troop #435 supports the scouts from McKinley, Jefferson, Oneida, Amanda, and Taft. The troop abides the Girl Scout Law and Promise, performs community service projects, earns badges and plans activities throughout the year.
  • Plays: MCC involves the participants in plays and skits during the summertime and special events.
  • Puppet Shows: The youth at the MCC perform puppet shows by making their own puppets during arts and crafts sessions and creating their own dialogue. This program is provided in conjunction with the Keep Middletown Beautiful Program and the Fitton Center in Hamilton, OH.
  • Arts & Crafts: The art program is designed to introduce youth to arts and crafts of all media. This program covers chalk, crayons, oil painting, watercolors, finger-painting, clay, woods, ceramic and other artistry. Crafts projects cover flower arrangements, cartooning, paper designs, tissue paper, puppets, masks, and other clever craft projects. This program is supported by Arts In Commons of the Fitton Center from Hamilton, Oh.
  • Summer Skills Program: This program is held each summer for students ages 7-11 to reinforce their reading, math, and writing skills. This program is also designed to help with foreign languages, computer classes, music and art.
  • Summer Recreation Program: This program is held each summer for the youth in the community. Activities include a litter control program, parking lot dances, DARE program, 4-H program, swimming, Science Fair, Family Fun Night, Splash parties and much more.
  • Meditation & Fitness Classes: This class is a stress relief activity offered to adults by performing body and mind building exercises to music.
  • Special Events: The MCC works with several outside organizations to enhance programs. Events include the All-Church Vacation Study, Basketball Camp, Cheerleader Camp, Laughs & Giggles, PHD program, Head Start program, Stop the Violence program, Family Service, Eating Healthy, field trips, center fun night and many others.
  • Positive U (Unity): This program strives for and teaches us to maintain unity on seven levels: self, family, community, neighborhood, nation, race and world. This activity is designed to give young people a variety of experiences to assist them in many phases of their lives. This activity will address good nutrition, academic advantages, self-awareness, and drug/alcohol prevention.
  • Ballet Classes: Classes are each Tuesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The instructor is from Fitton Center Creative Arts of Hamilton, Oh. The classes work with the beginners and continue to introduce the students to different skill levels.
  • Wee People: This program provides the children ages 3-6 with a chance to socialize with others of their age. Holiday events and special occasion programs are offered with supervision from the older youth and other organizations. Programs entertaining this age group include a Christmas party, Easter Egg Hunt, Sibling Specials and others.
  • Tutoring Classes: This program is offered to assist the youth with their schoolwork. Certified teachers work with the youth to build their self-confidence and improve grades.
  • Proficiency Blitz: A concentrated approach to work with high school students on their ninth grade proficiency testing to ensure that each will be a recipient of a high school diploma.
  • Basketball League: Organized recreation basketball teams are offered for children of all ages. The MCC sponsors two basketball teams that play in leagues, tournaments and clinics. Coaches volunteer to provide this program.
  • Cheerleading Clinic: The MCC offers a clinic for aspiring cheerleaders. The youth will be taught various cheers, stunts, and exercises. Coaches volunteer from the Middletown and Monroe Cheering Squad.
  • Computer Classes: Classes are offered for adults, seniors, teens, youth and students from MRDD.
  • Coed Volleyball: This adult activity is offered to churches, social clubs, fraternal organizations and other groups that will compete in league play.
  • Sewing Classes: Sewing class is scheduled in the fall from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM every Thursday to novices as well as to the expert seamstress. Volunteers from the Church Women United offer lessons.
  • Boxing Program: Eight year olds through adults train and compete in boxing events in the area. This program helps give youth a better understanding of what it takes to become a responsible person with a sense of purpose from childhood to adulthood.
  • Southend Slam Tournament: 3 on 3-basketball tournament held the first weekend of August. Three youth divisions and an adult division compete on the outside basketball court at Douglass Park.
