Youth ages 5-16 are invited to test their fishing skills at the free All American Fishing Derby held the first Saturday in June at Smith Park. Youth are divided into three age categories and a variety of prizes are awarded in each category. Pre-register during the month of May at the recreation office or at 9:30 AM. at Smith Park on the day of the event. The event begins at 10:00 AM until noon. A casting contest is also featured and prizes awarded. Youth between seven to twelve years old can enjoy a summer of fun by participating in the Fun & Learn Day Camp . Participants will create arts and crafts projects, have fun in many game activities and participate in a variety of field trips during June, July and August.
Smith Park is the site for the youth Little League Baseball and Soccer programs. Goldman Park is the site for the Middletown Youth Softball program. Douglass Park is the site for Peewee Football. Each of these programs is governed and operated by a volunteer board that is responsible for administering and implementing their respective program. The recreation office acts as a liaison to these organizations and can provide the name of a representative you can contact to obtain specific information about the program. Lefferson Park features a four-diamond softball complex that is the home for the summer and fall Adult Softball program. This program has recently been privatized and we can provide the name of a contact person that will provide information on leagues and tournaments being offered.
